Ocean Cove, Bossiney, Cornwall

A few weeks back, I was contacted by a journalist from the Guardian newspaper concerning some post I had made on a forum over a year ago. This related to the demise of a caravan site that I have been using since the early nineteen-sixties. I didn’t respond, but the article still went ahead and quoted my original post.

This has revived the discussion on the forum and I’ve posted a few vintage pictures there. Here’s one that was sent to me from one of the posters:

Only just come across this, Charlie Record who set the caravan site up would be turning in his grave if he could see what has happened to the place. Love the photos – reminds me of holidays in the early sixties when we used to stay in my grandfathers caravan ‘The Bluebell’ at Ocean Cove caravan park thanks for the pic

You may also be interested in this page which has a scan of an early Tintagel guide book with an advert for Ocean Cove inside.  When I posted that it estimated the date at around 1953, but from your comment, it would have to have been a few years later.

And the image is my father and grandfather in the bottom field at Ocean Cove.
