Another fine day and another day without needing to drive. It’s around 6 miles between Saltwick (where I’m staying) and Robin Hood’s Bay – at least that’s what the sign says.
I’d say 6 miles is about right, as the crow flies, but when you add the ups and downs and ins and outs, I put the distance at around 7 miles. And I can feel every inch! It took me 3 hours to walk there and another 3 to get back. It’s a nice piece of coast and it was only marred by the flies – there were swarms of biblical proportions along the whole length of the path – I’ve never seen so many – fortunately they weren’t of the biting variety.
Lunch was a delicious Whitby Bay Crab Salad.
