The new Mac mini is up and running and the Website has been moved back – Hopefully the new hardware should result in a big speed increase.
The old mini was a G4 1.25 GHz – this has been replaced with an Intel core duo 1.83 GHz. If the hype is to be believed, it should run twice as fast.
Th biggest revelation was Time Machine – as I was changing architectures, I didn’t expect it to be able to help – but I was wrong. The process was seamless:
- Start-up new Mac
- Click to restore from time machine
- Select drive with backup on it.
10 minutes later, the Mac reboots and has taken on all the settings from the dead Mac, even down to the fixed IP address.
