For the third day in a row – I’ve left the car at the cottage and set out on foot. This time to the neighbouring village of Torver.
From the Village, the route first passes along the western bank of the lake until after a few miles the path turns inland through woods toward Torver
From this point on most of the trail is waterlogged from yesterday’s rain. I had imagined that bogs were a lowland feature, but no matter how high I climbed, the ground remained exceedingly boggy.
After lunch in a pub at Torver, I turned further inland for the return journey to he cottage.
The last couple of miles were some of the muddiest but afford some spectacular views down to Coniston Water.
