Today didn’t quite work out as planned. I had scheduled a number of stops beginning with a walk around Keyhaven Marsh. When I arrived at Keyhaven I imediately saw the signs for the ferry to Hurst Castle and after a quick google on my iPhone I decided that it would be worth a visit.
The castle is located a mile and half out in the Solent at the end of Keyhaven Spit – it is midway between the mainland and the Isle of Wight.
I spent a couple of hours out on the spit before catching the ferry back to the mainland
After a pint and a crab sandwich, I finally headed out on the walk I had originally planed, around the Keyhaven March
Finally headed back to the hotel in Lyndhurst – the town was once again gridlocked with traffic. If it’s like this on an off-season Sunday afternoon, I’d hate to visit in the Summer – shame.
