Last day and not quite as sunny. No way I could manage another of those enormous breakfasts, so I had a pair of kippers instead.
First stop was at Brading Roman Villa
Very extensive Roman ruins and a very interesting tour that lasted about 30 minutes – well worth the visit.
Next, Carisbrook Castle
The castle was not amongst the best I have visited – but it is worth a visit for the perimeter wall, which you have full access to and commands some great views.
And if you can manage the climb, the view from the keep is even better.
My last stop- a walk around the Salt Marsh at Newtown
And that was the end of my first visit to the Isle of Wight. I was very pleasantly surprised and will definitely be going again sometime.
Bye Bye IOW, hello Portsmouth.
