First proper walk of the holiday – from the centre of Coniston up to Levers Water The trails start in the village centre to the east of Church Beck and and there is a fairly good track all the way up to the reservoir. Steep but not too challenging. Another one for the category – why didn’t I do this before! I started off at Birling Gap where you reach the beach via a staircase. I walked along the beach beneath the shear white chalk cliffs along the coast towards Beachy Head. You may have seen the recent TV adverts from the Welsh Assembly, ‘Holidays Unpackaged’, well I’ve just returned from a holiday and Wales, so how do they compare to reality. Well I’ve outdone myself this time. I have found many outstanding holiday cottages over the years but none in such a spectacular location. Last day of the holiday – time for just one more excursion – the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct I’d seen it featured on a TV show earlier in the year and as it was close to the route home I added it to my itinery. Recently it was added to the list of World Heritage Sites. |
