After a stop in Hawkshead for some souvenir shopping I headed over to Bowness, via the Windermere car ferry. Took the cruise to the southern tip of the lake before stopping off in Windermere for lunch. Last day of the Holiday so I tried to fit in as much as possible without driving too far. First stop – Tarn Hows (again) – I didn’t have time for the full circuit on the last visit so this was a chance to put that right. There’s not much to say except it’s a very picturesque and easy walk- there are benches placed at each strategic view point. Then moved on to the next destination. Visited Lake Windermere today and took a cruise between Bowness and Ambleside. Bowness is a pleasant lake side town with plenty of shops and restaurants, Ambleside has less to offer and is about 1 mile from the Lake |
